2024 Season
Rain Reminder
Just a reminder that you can check on County link above on any weekday before 4pm to see if the County has deemed any diamond unplayable, in which case games would be cancelled. Coaches/Teams will have the option of scheduling a makeup game or play the next game between the two teams for 4 points instead of 2. As a courtesy, if the County hasn't deemed the field unplayable and you haven't heard from your coach that the game is cancelled, you should show up at the diamond ready to play. |
In 2023, SPO and SPN merged and are now under one roof. In an effort to modernize the rules of our league and keep it in step with SPN, we've made some rule changes and updated our Constitution. >You can find the latest version of our Constitution here.< |
Some of the rule changes that were made for the 2024 season are:
- Lead Offs - Although lead-offs are still not allowed and you'll be called out for doing so, leaving the bag on an un-hit ball, once the ball reaches the plate, is no longer an out. An un-hit ball, once it reaches the ground or crosses the plate, is considered a dead ball and all runners can return to their respective bags without penalty.
- Tagging At Home - The scoring line and commitment line/forced out at home still applies, however a runner can optionally be tagged for an out as well. Any intentional collisions at home plate will not be tolerated.
- Pitching Circle - The pitching circle has been replaced with the SPN standard Pitching Box. The Pitching Box is a 2ft x 10ft box that is placed 50ft away from home plate. A Pitcher's foot must be inside this box at the time he releases the ball for a pitch.
